The DUCTZ Carpet Cleaning Process
It starts with proper inspection of your carpet, identification
of the fibers, and paying attention to any spots or stains
you wish specifically addressed.
We will measure your rooms so you are charged for what we actually clean
(some carpet cleaners charge by the room, often charging more than a
smaller room should cost).  We will advise of any unique situations or stains
that may be permanent (though we are generally successful at removing even
the most stubborn stains).

Once we arrive, we pre-vacuum using a commercial HEPA filtered vacuum to
remove dry soils and particulates.  This is one of the most important steps to
good carpet cleaning.

We will move furniture such as tables, chairs, sofas, end tables, etc as part of
what you expect from us.  Some larger furniture like dressers, large beds,
china closets, pianos, etc may not be moved, or may be moved with additional
care and cost.  We will put furniture up on protective foam blocks to protect the
furniture, as well as the carpet from any staining that might occur from the
furniture contacting a damp surface.

DUCTZ will extract the soils from the carpet using the best equipment and
techniques available, and rinse the carpets to assure detergents are extracted
with the soil, leaving the fibers PH Balanced, clean, and as dry as possible.
Our equipment is designed for minimal wetting, with maximum soil and water
extraction.

Heavy soil area treatment (traffic lanes) :

We do not “pre treat” heavy traffic lanes.  Rather, we will first clean those areas
once, then apply a traffic lane cleaner, allow it to work its magic on a damp
carpet, then re-clean that area to remove the remaining soil and any
detergents.  (applying pre-treatments is much like putting hair shampoo on dry
hair…the cleaner works much better if the fibers are damp, and the extraction
is much more thorough.)  Any areas with heavy soiling are groomed to work
the cleaning agent into the fibers, loosening the dirt, to allow for the best
cleaning.  We also use the
Rotovac 360i rotary carpet cleaning machine to
clean really stubborn carpets or carpets that are matted down.
 See it in action.

DUCTZ grooms the carpet to set the pile in one direction.  This is when a
carpet protector or deodorizer is applied.  Then we utilize high velocity air
movers and fans to speed the drying process. Often one room is dry to the
touch before we complete the next room. Typical dry times are under 4 hours.

Finally, we put the furniture back to it’s original location and have you do a post
inspection to assure you are delighted with our workmanship.

Once your carpet is cleaned:

1. Be careful walking from carpet to hard surfaces. Floors can be slippery.

2. Keep pets and children off of carpet for at least 4 hours.

3. Remove blocks and tabs 24 hours after carpet is cleaned.
Carpet Cleaning helps improve IAQ. Carpets act like a filter,
trapping allergens and other contaminants.

Carpets  keep dust and allergens out of the air we breathe.
Simply put, what falls to the carpet (dust, pet dander, skin
flakes and many other particulates that we breathe in) tends
to stay trapped in the carpet until it is removed through
vacuuming or extraction cleaning.

With carpet, contaminants do not re-circulate into the
breathing zone, so a properly maintained carpet actually
contributes to improved air quality.

Independent testing has compared the distribution of
airborne dust associated with normal activities on hard and
soft flooring surfaces. Findings show that walking on hard
surfaces disturbs more particles than walking on carpeted
surfaces. In contrast, carpeted surfaces trap more particles
so that walking disturbs fewer particles, resulting in less
dust in the breathing zone of children and adults.

the Study

Carpets and Asthma & Allergy Symptoms;
The weight of evidence does not support a link between
carpet and asthma and allergy symptoms, even though
some healthcare providers believe there is an association.
In fact, clean, dry, well-maintained carpet actually improves
indoor air quality.
Researcher and toxicology expert Mitchell Sauerhoff, Ph.D.,
DABT, reviewed 23 U.S. and international scientific studies
and concluded in "
Carpet, Asthma and Allergies - Myth or
Reality," that carpet's alleged negative characteristics are
not consistent with current research. In fact, he concludes
that the literature on carpet and asthma or allergies
confirms that children and adults living with carpet do not
have an increased incidence of asthma or allergy.

In 1993 a study titled "Global Strategy for Asthma
Management and Prevention" was published collaboratively
by the U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute and the
World Health Organization. The 2007 update to the original
report states that there is no evidence that replacing carpet
with hard surface flooring has a health benefit.
